Netgear Wg111v2 Installation Driver

Netgear WNA1000 Wireless-N 150 USB Adapter: Compared to Wireless-G, Wireless-N 150 provides better wireless coverage with Wireless-G devices and better speed with.

64-bit Windows 7 drivers for the Netgear WG111v2 are available through Windows Update. I ve used them on three different Windows 7 computers, and they work fine.

You don t need a paid download from weinsteinsolutions. My guess is that he s just selling a copy of the drivers that he downloaded from Windows Update.

Step 1: Make sure your Win7 computer has a working Internet connection. You might need to temporarily connect it via Ethernet cable.

Step 2: Plug the WG111v2 into a USB port on the computer. Use a port right on the computer the first time. Subsequently you can plug it into a hub or active-repeater cable, but you re probably better off not doing that the first time.

Step 3: Wait for Windows to find and install drivers from Windows Update. Be patient, it will take a few minutes less than ten, perhaps less than five.

That s all. When the drivers are installed, you can immediately use them to connect to a wireless access point. No reboot is needed.

I haven t tried the WG111v2 with 32-bit Windows 7, but it probably works fine, too. Both 64-bit and 32-bit drivers for this device are listed in the Windows Update Catalog:

Note: you must use Internet Explorer and allow it to install the add-on to use the Windows Update Catalog. It doesn t work from Google Chrome.

Microsoft s KB323166 also has instructions for downloading drivers from the Windows Update Catalog:

I read through the manual and found this:

After the USB adapter joins the network, it automatically saves the network connection information to a Windows profile. Windows profiles can be used by genie and the Windows utility. If there is no change in the network information, the next time you launch NETGEAR genie, it automatically connects to the network you previously joined.

This, however, is obviously not happening. It seems that Smart Wizard, the software before Genie, I believe, would allow you to save profiles. Genie does it automatically, supposedly, but it isn t working in my case. Does anyone have any idea how to force it to save the network login information.

I typically only use wireless on devices that only have wireless as an option. If there s an ethernet port available, I use it, as I find wired ethernet more stable, secure, and faster. However, my wife and I have moved into a small apartment while our new house is being built. The location where I have my router isn t close to where we had to put the desk and I didn t want to have cables spread all over the floor. What to do.

I finally remembered receiving a Dish Network branded, Netgear WNDA3100 with one of my older Dish receivers a couple of years ago. Not having high-speed available in our old home, we d never used it, though I d never thrown it away bless my old pack rat heart. I decided to try and locate it and see if I could get it to work. I found the adapter easily enough, downloaded the most recent software from Netgear and the setup was a breeze. I was able to get connected relatively quickly and easily. The only problem that I have is that I can find no options to permanently store my wireless network s password. I ve used laptops and other mobile devices with wireless for years and I ve never ran into one where I needed to continually re-enter the password whenever I reboot and want to connect. I do with this device, however. Am I missing something. How do I tell the adapter/Genie software to save my network s password.

Thanks to anyone that may be able to assist.

Hello,

I d like installing my new wireless adaptator on my 12 laptop, under Win7: how is this possible without CD-Reader.

Thank you for your help.

Yesterday, I installed a brand new WNDA Wireless Dual Band USB adapter on a Dell Windows 7 desktop. Installation procedure was flawless. Adaptor was working. After half an hour or so, it did not work anymore. It turned out that its socket was extremely hot to hot to touch.

De-installing and re-installing the software was not succesful. It seems the adapter simply is dead,

Please, advise.

Hello.

Despite the fact that I am new to the Netgear forums, I am not new to this particular issue as I have also experienced issues with the Windows 8.1 driver for this device.

First of all, if you have installed the Windows 8.1 beta driver for the WNDA4100, you should uninstall it right away because it is a broken driver; hence it being a beta driver.

While some people successfully seem to be able to install and use this driver, if you have this driver installed successfully and connect to your 5 GHz connection, you will experience an extremely bad I/O loop which causes your download speed to drop to 0 kbps repeatedly, never maintaining a strong connection to your router. If you have this beta driver installed you can see this phenomenon for yourself by opening up your diagnostic window Windows X - Task Manager - Performance and clicking Wi-Fi, watching your I/O while downloading a large file.

If you do some quick Googling about the issue you re experiencing, you ve likely come across this:Press the Windows X key, then select Device Manager from the menu in the lower-left hand corner of your screen.

Find your Netgear WNDA4100 adapter under Network adapters. Right click it and select Update Driver Software

Select Browse my computer for driver software.

Click Let me pick

You should see one driver from Microsoft and one from Netgear. Select the one from Netgear, click Next, and follow the installation prompts.

If you do not see the driver from Netgear, navigate to their support site and download the standard Windows 8 driver. After installation, you should see both.

For whatever reason, 8.1 defaults to the Microsoft driver. After enabling the Netgear driver, you should have full access to the 5GHz band.

While this seems logical, I did not see a Netgear option for myself when performing the above steps. I was resigned to using the stable Windows 8.0 driver that Netgear has released. Note: Using the stable Windows 8.0 driver will only enable you to use the 2.4 GHz band.

To get a stable Netgear driver installed, please follow my steps below here to get this done:

Visit:

Download the above driver but do not install it yet. Then:

1. Windows X - Device Manager - Network Adapters

2. Right click WNDA4100 N900 Wireless Adapter

3. Click Uninstall

Once the existing driver is uninstalled, install the downloaded stable Netgear Windows 8.0 driver.

You should now be able to scan for wireless networks in your area.

We really need to start pushing for Netgear to get a stable version of their Windows 8.1 driver for this device out to the public.

Hey there,

I have a specific question about wireless adapter. I have a WNDA3200 adapter at my use. It is an 11n adapter. It uses diversity as all of the adapters that supports 11n. What I want to ask is what kind of diversity it uses. It would be best in my interest if it works with selection diversity

there are 3 other methods used for diversity.

If this one doesn t support it can you share some adapters that use that specific kind of diversity.

Best Regards,

Murat

Okay, so I just set up a computer that I recently bought. It s an Alienware Aurora R4. The OS is Windows 8.1. As the computer isn t currently connected to the internet, I m of course using a different computer to type this.

I am trying to setup a N300 WiFi USB Adapter WNA3100. I put the disk in the computer and got to the point where I m supposed to Insert the wireless USB adapter into a USB port on your computer. When I put the adapter in and click next, it just says Detecting adapter and will not detect it no matter how long I wait. That said, I m sure it can see that it is in because while it never detects it, as soon as I pull the adapter out it immediately says The NETGEAR WNA3100 adapter is not found. This message only appears when I take the adapter out and as long as I have the adapter in, it will continue to say Dectecing adapter forever.

I have tried the adapter with and without the cradle and I have used multiple USB ports, all of which I have confirmed work by using other devices like mice, flash-drives, and keyboards. This is the second adapter I have tried so I doubt it s a problem that both adapters had, not to mention I tired it in my laptop a Toshiba Satellite P755-S5390 and it worked fine. On the side of the box it clearly says it will work with windows 7, 8, XP, and Vista, so I don t think it s an issue with my OS.

If someone could please help, I have no idea what the problem could be.

Thanks JM. It could be something like that. If I do an IP scan on the network the addresses taken are 192.168.0 :

1 gateway, wired, fixed IP

176 PC, wired, DHCP

185 PC, wired, DHCP

187 PC, wired, DHCP

209 Android S4 phone, wireless, DHCP

254 WGT624, wired, fixed IP

The S4 works fine. If I try to connect from any other wirelss device I can t. The gateway is just using the Win XP internet connection sharing.

If I turn off wifi on the phone and then turn it on again, it always gets address 209.

If I turn off wifi on the phone and then turn on wifi on an android tablet, it gets allocated address 77.

If I turn off wifi on the tablet and then turn it on again, it always gets address 77, and the S4 phone won t connect.

What I tried next was setting the wireless devices to all get static IP addresses 100, 101 and 102. All 3 devices 2x S4, one Sony tablet S connect OK and seem to work.

So it appears as if I am on air again, but I would rather DHCP was working than having to set up anybody who visits with a static IP address.

Thanks for your input.
